POPULAR CULTURE

Today’s pop culture changes fast and consumes easily. Established classification system of pop culture – so called fields, like arts, design, music, animation – is no longer has its own stance of those separated categorization, but has stand of crossover. Also space has same character where take that pop culture. (Not a fixed, separated, but flexibility, fluid space)

STUDIO MEETS EVERY PROGRAM

In general education space, there is no connection between rooms but it is not suitable today’s circumstances. Popular culture lab space, where today’s pop culture made, especially personal studio shapes like organic form, meets every programs. And between spaces made by borders function as light holes, and visual connection between any other program.

PUBLIC & PRIVATE. TRANSPARENT & OPAQUE

Popular culture lab has no fixed boundaries. Each fields has interactions but also need isolated space for personal works. So we use fake wall and curtain to make one long studio to personal workshop space, or make separation between studio and other programs.

(ENGRAVED) PLAZA AS A MULTIPURPOSE

New square was made by action ‘excavating stratum’ is open for all, sometimes closed, or partially closed. (Using one space or using separated some spaces) As usual, it opens for all like lobby, but sometimes performing, concert events and lecture sessions, it will use partially, and flea-market, expansion exhibition use square entirely.
